COP - Practical Work - Letter Press Test

Letter Press

my COP practical work i intent to use letter press to create a manually printed magazine cover, that i can then scan in and edit digitally, my aim in my cop practical work is to show the difference, benefits and downfalls of both digital and print techniques to compare them. Then i will combine them to show how they are better if they work together this is as this is the conclusion to my essay. The practical work will reflect that of my essay. I want to highlight that both style of working have downfalls but also highlights, show different thing both ways can do the other cant whilst reflecting them work better together.

the benefits of letter press is the choice of inks, physical print quality is better, adds a personal touch, adds a vintage feel to a design but the downfalls are that it takes awhile to reproduce, its need lot of equipment, it takes more time to edit the type, its easy to mess up, not many people know how to do it have access to a machine, print take ages to dry, can mess it ink up, not the exact same every thing.

i have printed 'the gentlewoman' as this is a famous indie magazine that uses digital technique to be produced, my aim is to create a cover for this magazine using letter press therefore printed the title as an experiment to see how it would work.

Benefit of digital print that can be produced digital is that these have used a sliver ink, this adds a more expensive look to the type as they reflect the idea of wealth, its a more design feature that added quailty to the print which cant be seen is the digital age.
