The essay concluded that 'Ads can use and do use sex and sexuality content widely throughout the industry, this is as this style of advertising sells via using the idea that desire is a major feature needed to persuade the audience. Also sexual imagery is used to grab an audience’s attention heavily thought the past and new advertising campaigns but the companies using these themes have to be aware of the relevance, audience and subject of the adverts as there is a thin line in the industry where the used of the imagery can receive negative impression (CK 1995) and even get the advert banned (American appeal adverts). This essay has concluded that if sex is used in adverting it can be a useful stagey to make the audience notice their products/companies but the advertiser need to make sure they stay away from any content that might have pedophilic implications or any adverts that use sexuality inappropriately as any association with the adverts ethical stance can be applied to the company, target audience can be offended by advert and apply this negative idea to the brand itself.'
This essay concludes in totally that what made the use sex and sexuality ethical in advertising is that the use needs to be relevant to what is being, advertised/content of the advert suitable for the target audience age, situated in a suitable location, the subject is not seen to be taken advantage of, not overly sexual for no reason, positive tone of voice, that the subject being used is empowered or is seen as positive/happy and the subject is of a suitable age . The level of sexual content that can be used relates to directly to these areas, for example the more sexual the item is the more sex that can be use in the advertising yet can still be appropriate . This basic set of guidelines that control the level of sexual undertones or content that can be used in the advertising yet still be suitable and not get banned .

This advert uses sexual themes widely, yet the advert doesn't directly use any imagery of a naked or underdressed women. Yet it implies sexual tones it doesn't actually show the audience anything that would be inappropriate for younger viewers. The subject Keira Knightley is also sen as in-control, she's seen as happy with the situation she's placed in, the subject is not being taken advantage of. The product it's self is perfume, which sex off sex via creating appearing as the product makes the wearing more desirable so the content is relevant to the use of the desire sexual imagery, also the product is aimed at a older audience.

Enough American Appareal have been discussed in the essay and would be a client for this idea some of their adverts due use sex in a more positive way, this has been seen via this campaign.
This suitable because it's advertising underwear, so the content (which is discussed in the essay as important factor on if sex is relevant )fit with the use of sex, where as the other banned adverts are promoting sock or tie ect no sexual items underwear which is seen in this tv ad need to be promoted sexually because of it's genre and subject this is suitbale. Also the women in this advert is drastically older than the one in the banned adverts, this seem like like it's taking advantage of the subject due to this as well as due to the tone of the shoot. The subject here seems very happy with this advert and being part of the shoot, this give a positive tone to the advert therefore removing the exploitation themes. This also link to the age of the women displayed, in the banned adverts the subject are seen as much younger, school girl age even but here the women seem older, this link to the essay as it removed the pedophilic implications which receive the negative feedback/responses.
Due to all these reason and factor that the client has changed it makes this style of ad appropriate, this is basically want was aimed for by this idea. As this has been done for the client can it be done in a different way for the idea?? The advert uses sex to attracting the audience but uses it in away that empower the subject and makes the audience have a more positive reaction, therefore fulfill this idea but using sex to an appropriate level.
